New Social Science research

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is marking the 200th anniversary of the abolition of slavery by examining the continuing role of slavery in modern Britain. Researchers from the University of Hull and Anti-Slavery International have found that a new form of slavery has emerged that is distinct from poor working conditions.

Researchers at the Unversity of Bristol have come up with the Bristol Social Exclusion Matrix or B-SEM which covers 10 dimensions of social exclusion, to summarise existing knowledge, and to identify whether better use could be made of existing data, and where there are knowledge gaps that need to be filled.
